Dean Regas is not your typical astronomer. After graduating from Xavier University, he taught many different subjects including history, government, science, nature education as well as dabbling in the lucrative field of nature restoration and trail construction.
But the stars captured him twelve years ago when he began working at the intimate Wolff Planetarium.
It was there that Dean discovered his real passion for space and has since become a regional expert in observational astronomy, star identification and mythology.
He has written over 65 astronomy articles for the Cincinnati Enquirer and Community Press and writes a regular astronomy/mythology blog called DeanSpace: http://www.cincinnatiobservatory.org/deanspace.html Dean has been featured dozens of times on local television and radio news programs and for the past three years he has interviewed local scientists for CET Connect, an online video-on-demand site. He has achieved the lofty title of Solar System Ambassador and consulted on many projects including A Spin around the Solar System an instructional video for students and Seven Vessels, an astronomical sculpture. He has been the Outreach Astronomer for the Cincinnati Observatory Center since 2000 where he teaches students of all ages about the stars above.
